Troels Jordansen, Executive Chairman

Over the last 20 years, Troels has built vast experience in the medical field, worked predominantly in commercial roles ranging from Product Manager for a large multinational; to Managing Director for a public listed company. His employment history was initiated in international corporations such as Johnson and Johnson and more recently, specifically the last eight years, Troels has worked for start-up companies.

Technology background ranges from absorbable medical devices to cell therapies, including more traditional orthopaedic implants and devices. Troels started working with cell therapies back in 1996 when he became part of the commercial pioneers for Genzyme, launching Carticel® in Europe, where he was responsible for 14 quarters of consecutive growth.

Troels has been a part of Management Teams raising in excess of EUR 120 million and today has a broad network of venture capital and corporate finance contacts. Having worked globally Troels has a personal network in Australia, Japan, Europe and both North and South America. Troels has two international management and marketing degrees.

Professor Anthony Hollander, Chief Scientific Officer and co-founder

Anthony Hollander graduated with 1st Class Honours in Pharmacology (University of Bath) and a PhD in Pathology (The University of Bristol). Anthony then spent 3 years working as a Canadian Arthritis Society Postdoctoral Research Fellow at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, where he developed new antibodies and assays for specific forms of degraded cartilage collagen.

In 1993 Anthony was appointed as a UK Arthritis Research Campaign Postdoctoral Fellow and Lecturer at the University of Sheffield. Anthony was promoted to Reader in 1999 and in 2000, at the age of 36, he was appointed to the Chair of Rheumatology & Tissue Engineering at The University of Bristol. This was the first time that a non-clinical scientist had been appointed to a Chair of Rheumatology in the UK and reflected the community's willingness to support his vision of translating basic research into therapeutic advances.

During his research career Anthony has published over 70 papers in peer-reviewed journals and raised research funding from government, EU, charities and industry to a total of almost £4 million. Anthony sits on grant review boards for the government (stem cell panel) and the EU (biomaterials and stem cell panels). Anthony is a member of the editorial board of 2 journals ("International Journal of Experimental Pathology" and "Regenerative Medicine"). Anthony was Honorary Secretary of the British Society for Matrix Biology from 2003 until 2007. Anthony is a Fellow of the International cartilage Repair Society (ICRS) and Chair of the ICRS Communications Committee. Anthony has just been invited to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Medicine. Anthony is frequently invited to speak at National and International meetings and has appeared on television and radio as well as featuring in newspaper reports around the world.

Brian Horsburgh, Director

Brian is currently a Business Development Director for the IP Group and sits on the boards of several portfolio companies providing strategic and commercial advice. Prior to this he spent three years responsible for search and evaluation of technologies that addressed emerging opportunities in healthcare markets for ITI Life Sciences. Brian has held various leadership positions in drug discovery, preclinical development and scientific affairs for U.S. and Canadian biotechnology companies. In this capacity he played a key role in the sale of NeuroVir to MediGene for $77M and founded Nurel Therapeutics that was subsequently sold to Diamyd AB. Brian was the Charles A King Fellow at Harvard Medical School and has a PhD from Cambridge University.
